Description

The successor to our popular “La Golden Acapulco Dub Siren + Sampler” is this new version with built-in delay and microphone.

This Dub Siren generates sound modulated with three waveforms, a launch button, and speed, depth and pitch control knobs. It features a built-in microphone and audio input, which output through the analog delay. Everything you need for a DJ set on your sound system or mixing party.

You can add this siren in a live set or to a music mix. It’s connects by a mini-plug cable and you can send it directly to speakers, or to a mixer or other interface.

There are two ways to make the oscillator sound: Leave it sounding with the manual switch or with the launch button.

You have depth, pitch, and speed control.

The built-in microphone on the back is for using your voice. The audio output goes through the delay, which gives more character. If you shout, it saturates a little like a megaphone.

It is a small and light box (15 x 7,5 x 4 cm) mounted on a printed on full color PCB.

A touch of history…

If you’re here, you probably already know that sirens are fundamental to dub music and sound systems. Born in Jamaica and present world wide.

Behind this musical culture there a deep technical knowledge about turntables, speaker amplification, mixing consoles, and sound effects. That’s where sirens, echo effects such as delay, and microphones are the undisputed stars of dub sound. The selector or DJ is a master of ceremonies who uses effects to induce the audience into hypnotic trances of partying and music.
Design

La Golden Acapulco is a famous plant mentioned in Los Detectives Salvajes, the classic novel by Roberto Bolaño, who together with Mario Santiago Papasquiaro are a poetic influence, with Mexico City as a center of inspiration.

These ideas are illustrated by Pablo Delcielo, in this new take of the “Golden Acapulco” art concept.
